The light show currently stands at 12,811 individually controlled lights (more than double 2024!!!!), all with three channels (each “pixel” you see actually has three individual lights inside), which equates to over 30,000 traditional Christmas lights! Every single individual bulb is controllable/programmable. The light show is currently running at only 20% brightness, these things are bright!
The journey started back in 2010. I had a budget of $150 a year for Christmas lights and that evolved ultimately to this picture below in 2020.
When we installed solar panels I couldn’t just drop a ton of lights on the roof like I did in years prior and that is when #dawnmessedup was created and I got the ok to do a fully synchronized light show.
The light show started in 2021 then unfortunately we missed 2022 due to the loss of both of our mothers to lung cancer. While the holidays will never be the same, the light show is now dedicated to them. If you’re interested in supporting the show please consider making a donation in their honor on the donations page.

2021 light count: ~3000 - Power consumption isn’t all that bad. They are all 12V pixels, when everything is lit up white it uses around 350w per controller box but normal show operating range is about 90-120w per box
- The show uses 3 Hinxpix controller boxes. A main 16 port controller, an 8 port long range receiver (on the roof) and a 16 port long range receiver (roof as well)
